America has elected a dangerous narcissist

What should be clear to any normally perceptive person by now is that the smugly, patronizingly arrogant Obama is a classic narcissist.

He'd be better known as ObaMySelf.

Narcissism is clinically defined as a pattern of traits and behaviors which signify infatuation and obsession with one's self to the exclusion of all others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one's gratification, dominance and ambition.

The following behaviors are criteria for diagnosing the pathological mental condition known as Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). They were gleaned from the American Psychiatric Association's Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition and Sam Vaknin's Malignant Self Love: Narcissism Revisited.

Five or more of the following criteria must be met for a valid diagnosis of NPD:

1. Feels grandiose and self-important (for example: exaggerates achievements and talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements).

2. Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion.

3. Firmly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique or high-status people (or institutions).

4. Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation — or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply).

5. Feels entitled. Expects unreasonable or special and favorable priority treatment. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or her expectations.

6. Is "interpersonally exploitative" — that is, uses others to achieve his or her own ends.

7. Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with or acknowledge the feelings and needs of others.

8. Constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same about him or her.

9. Arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes coupled with rage when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted.

ObaMySelf meets all nine criteria to one degree or another.

He's a pompous nutcase, clearly unfit to be president, and should be impeached.

Survey: Four in 10 Tea Partiersare Democrats or independents

Four in 10 Tea Party members are either Democrats or Independents, according to a new national survey.

The findings provide one of the most detailed portraits to date of the grassroots movement that started last year.

The national breakdown of the Tea Party composition is 57 percent Republican, 28 percent Independent and 13 percent Democratic, according to three national polls by the Winston Group, a Republican-leaning firm that conducted the surveys on behalf of an education advocacy group. Two-thirds of the group call themselves conservative, 26 are moderate and 8 percent say they are liberal.

The Winston Group conducted three national telephone surveys of 1,000 registered voters between December and February. Of those polled, 17 percent – more than 500 people -- said they were “part of the Tea Party movement.”

“It’s a good sample size,” said David Winston, the polling firm’s director. “It will certainly give us an initial base to follow where these folks are.” MORE...
